An Original AllSouth Networks Production
Memphis, Tennessee is a town known for many things: blues, BBQ, Sun Records, Elvis....the list goes on and on. And while all of those things deserve all the attention they get, there are many other aspects of Memphis that are sure to stop you in your tracks.
If you've ever driven east on Poplar Avenue through Midtown Memphis, then you've seen it - a blazing blur of brilliant neon - The Sputnik.
Erected in 1963, the moveable neon sign has been a Memphis icon ever since.
Although the sign fell on hard times during the 80's and 90's, with the tender loving care of new owner, Brad Larson, The Sputnik has been reborn.
Come with us we learn more about the Sputnik, what it means to Memphis, and what it meant....er....what it means...to Elvis.
